WJYS: A full-power digital TV signal
At 1,670 feet above Chicago, WJYS broadcasts a full-power digital TV signal on channel 62 from Willis Tower to all of the greater Chicago area, including Northwest Indiana and portions of Wisconsin and Michigan.
Like all full-power broadcast TV stations, WJYS ceased analog broadcasting on June 12, 2009.
WJYS uses state of the art digital transmitting equipment and uses an all-digital technical operations center to provide viewers with the best possible video and audio quality. The latest audio processing is used to ensure programming remains at a comfortable listening level for both programs and commercials. WJYS began broadcasting in digital in 2002.
The WJYS suburban studio features state of the art high definition cameras, 24 channel audio mixing, modern fluorescent studio lighting, and teleprompter. Editing and post production is performed using digital non-linear facilities.
Analog program sources are still supported by WJYS, offering the highest flexibility to clients. WJYS is also available through Comcast digital cable, RCN, Wide Open West, Dish Network, DirecTV, and AT&T U-Verse.
